The Great Horned Owl aka, The Hoot Owl aka, the Tiger Owl is native to the Americas. They are nocturnal but, you may see them around dusk sitting on fence posts or tree limbs at the edges of open areas. Their call is a deep, stuttering series of four to five hoots.
